Welcome to Milton, DE a shipbuilding town during the 19th century believed to have been named for the English poet, Philosopher John Milton - "Paradise Lost." Captain William Russell once owned the house now called Hull Cottage, and the adjoining property. Russell's ship was large enough to be part of international trade. After being stabbed in the leg he survived a mutiny. Later in his career he was lost at sea. A marker in the Goshen Cemetery on Chestnut Street marks his passing.
